Frequently asked questions

Your questions, our answers.

Find answers here to the most common questions about SafeChild and how it works.

Privacy

Is my data safe and confidential?

Yes. Protecting your data is our absolute priority. Location data is encrypted in transit and stored securely. It is never sold or shared with third parties without your explicit consent.

Who can see my child's location?

Only the guardians you have authorised yourself from your account. You can revoke access at any time. Nobody else — not even the SafeChild team — looks at your child's position in the normal course of the service.

Can I delete my child's data?

Yes, at any time and without justification. A deletion request via the Contact page erases the location data and the associated account. See our privacy policy for retention periods.

Product & GPS

How does real-time location work?

The SafeChild device determines its position by GPS, then sends it to the app over the GSM network (2G/3G). You see that position on a map, refreshed regularly. Accuracy depends on the environment: it is better outdoors than inside a building.

Can my child trigger an SOS alert by mistake?

The SOS button requires a long press, which greatly limits accidental triggers. If an alert is sent by mistake, you see it immediately in the app and can dismiss it in one tap.

How long does the device battery last?

The device is designed to last several days between charges in normal use. Real battery life varies with how often the position updates and with network quality. The app warns you well before the battery runs out.

What if I lose the device or it gets damaged?

Contact our support team: we will help you deactivate the device and replace it. A lost device gives access to no data from your account.

Subscription & Pricing

How much does the Premium plan cost?

The Premium plan costs 2,000 FCFA per month. The Free plan remains available with no time limit and already covers real-time location, SOS alerts and one safe zone. Pricing will be confirmed when the pilot opens.

How can I pay for my subscription?

Primarily via Mobile Money (Orange Money, Moov Money, Airtel Money, Wari), the most widely used payment method in the region. No bank account is required.

Availability

Is SafeChild compatible with every phone?

The app is planned for Android and iOS. It is built to stay lightweight and work on entry-level phones and limited connections — a constraint we take seriously from the design stage.

When and where will SafeChild be available?

SafeChild is in its pilot phase in Niamey, Niger. The planned expansion covers Mali, Burkina Faso and Nigeria. Join the waiting list to hear first when it opens in your city.

Can SafeChild be used abroad?

The device depends on GSM coverage and on its SIM card's roaming agreement. Outside the covered countries, operation is not guaranteed at this stage of the pilot. Contact us for a specific need.

Support

How do I contact support if I need help?

Through the form on the Contact page, by email or by phone. Our team is based in Niamey and answers in French and English.

I represent an institution: how do we become a partner?

Write to us via the Contact page and choose the "Partnerships & institutions" subject. Your message goes straight to the team handling institutional relations.
